Thank you for choosing to dance and have fun online with Karen Daly.
Those of you who know Karen understand how passionate she is about teaching dance fitness classes and having fun. She is super excited to finally be able to bring these classes to you in the comfort of your home.
For many years you have asked Karen if you can watch her classes online so you can dance with her at your own pace, at your own time and in your own space from the comfort of home. So now you can!
You will enjoy all of your favourite songs and lots of different classes and hopefully you will feel Karen’s contagious energy coming through the screen at you!
Karen has been in the fitness industry, teaching some form of group exercise for more than 25 years. During the 1980’s she began teaching the Gin Miller Step Reebok program, competing in the State Aerobic Championships, together with various other group fitness classes such as Hi-Lo, Aerobics Hi Impact, Jazzercise, Better Body and Stretch – she recalls that it was always so exciting to learn new ways to bring a great workout to her class participants. Even when she first started teaching, people would come up to her and say they could see how much she loved ‘her job’!
The mid 1990’s rolled along and Karen’s career took a turn towards the health/nutrition side of the industry and she embarked on a major project born out of a labour of love. At the time there were no nutritional guidelines on any of the food products that we purchased in Australia and no publications available that listed this information. How many kilojoules or how much fat was in the products we were eating? This was the era of the ‘low fat’ diet.
So, after 12 months of research, Karen and her husband Warren self-published her first book FATS & FIGURES Shopper’s Guide. They marketed and promoted the book on television daily and over the next 5-10 years Karen wrote another 6 books, all of which went on to become the biggest selling health/diet books in Australia. She received hundreds of letters from people who relate how much the books helped them to lose weight and become healthier versions of themselves. Many leading hospitals have utilised the Fats & Figures books in their Diabetic Information classes and libraries.
Then, in 2009, Karen saw an infomercial that really re-ignited her passion for dance fitness again. It was the half hour ZUMBA FITNESS infomercial. She signed up to do the first training in Sydney to become an instructor.
She has been teaching dance fitness and Zumba classes since 2009 – with a PASSION! She teaches with such joy and her classes are suitable for all age, abilities and fitness levels, enabling her to pass on her passion through teaching.
Karen quotes “I am lucky enough to be able to inspire my students and my community to keep fit, both physically and emotionally. The absolute joy that I see on my participant’s faces during class is so incredibly rewarding – I just LOVE my job. Feedback I receive when teaching dance fitness really shows me how important it is that I am doing something I love because my students really do recognise this and know that I am 100% committed to them”
Karen has strived very hard to create a ‘community’ within her classes with a supportive and nurturing attitude. Many of her students inspire her with their stories about how much her classes and the community she has created means to them.
Apart from the obvious cardiovascular fitness benefits, increased mobility, balance, strength and flexibility, so many students love the feeling of being a part of a big supportive community family, with the wonderful social support that being part of a group brings. This, together with the incredibly rewarding health benefits of fighting depression and stocking up on those feel good endorphins.
Karen’s classes allow participants to be themselves and be a little 'off beat' if they wish to be. There are no right or wrong moves in her dance fitness classes (as long as it is not a contra-indicated move!)....they are just ‘dance solos"
Karen is looking forward to sharing lots of joyous moments with you via her online dance fitness fun classes as well as LIVE classes which are now back in full force.
See you soon on the dance floor!
